ROOSEVELT BRIDGE PROJECT

On Sept. 10, 2026, about 130 people gathered at Lake Texoma State Park to break ground on the U.S. 70 Roosevelt Bridge Replacement Project. Federal, state, local and Tribal leaders joined community members for the celebration.

Oklahoma Secretary of Transportation and ODOT Executive Director Tim Gatz emceed the program. He called the day a celebration of "long-awaited promises delivered" for the region and everyone who relies on the bridge.

Federal Highway Administrator Sean McMaster represented the U.S. Department of Transportation. He said the project replaces an 80-year-old structure "with a modern design built for generations."

U.S. Sen. James Lankford worked with ODOT for years to bring federal funding to the bridge. He called the $124 million Bridge Investment Program grant the largest transportation grant in Oklahoma history. State leaders and the Zachry Construction/Traylor Bros. design-build team also spoke.

The more than $408 million project replaces the existing bridge between Bryan and Marshall counties. The new four-lane bridge adds full shoulders, lighting and a pedestrian path.

Crews have already started preparing the site. The current bridge stays open during construction, and ODOT expects to complete the new bridge in fall 2029.
